Design students from across the UK descended onto the stunning Business Design Centre in Islington this week. With industry professionals and press workers attending, this was a chance for students to showcase the projects they’ve been working tirelessly on throughout the year.

Hailed as ‘the biggest event in the design industry calendar’, dozens of universities brought their students down to display their projects. Hundreds of stands featured all-in-all, in what was yet another fantastic year for design. In its 33rd year, New Designers has gone from strength to strength, now boasting over 3000 of the U.K.’s brightest design graduates as attendees.

Awards were presented at various levels, including the ‘One Year On‘ (OYO) section. OYO is a chance to see how graduates are doing, you guessed it, one year after the previous festival. This gives a good insight into how design students progress into industry. It’s also a great opportunity for current students to seek advice on where best to look for jobs.

Below is Winter & Kurth, deserved recipients of the New Designers One Year On Award. They’re a design studio based in Manchester, whose “collaborative practice steers their work in exciting and unexpected directions.” According to their online profile, Winter & Kurth “interweave their individual design backgrounds creating experiential surfaces”. They “fuse graphic application with simple 3D form.” Check out their work here.

If you’re a design student, you’ll already know about New Designers. If you aren’t directly involved with design, why not go anyway? Everybody is more than happy to discuss their work, and it’s a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Thanks New Designers, see you next year!
